Here’s another quick Frequently Asked Questions article. Today, we’ll talk about what you should wear to come down and train at a ninja obstacle course gym. There are a lot of options, and we’ll talk in general terms. If you have any special questions, please give us a call. We’d love to talk to you.
Shirts
You’ll want to wear shirts that you aren’t afraid to sweat in. These are pretty much any work out shirts. The best fabrics are those that can keep you cool, but the shirt isn’t too baggy. In order to move quickly, you’ll want something that stays fairly close to your body.
If you’re just training, then any old shirt should do. If you are competing, we recommend getting a shirt with a tighter fit that doesn’t restrict movement so that you don’t have to worry about the shirt getting in your way.
**For the gals, we recommend a sports bra. The idea is to allow maximum movement without having to worry about moving or adjusting your wardrobe.
Shorts
The same concept goes for your shorts. We recommend shorts that can keep you cool, but that aren’t too baggy. The nice thing is the clothes aren’t too hard to find. A basic Amazon search can find you some decent work out shorts.
Shoes
When it comes to shoes, you’ll definitely want to be selective. Because the sport relies on quick and precise movements, you won’t want anything heavy. This rules out basketball shoes. While gym shoes are an excellent choice, some people get more specific. Whatever you choose, just make sure the shoes have excellent grip and are light, but provide great support for your feet and ankles.
Leggings
Leggings are a great option, if you get fabric you are comfortable moving about in. A ninja warrior obstacle course takes its toll on you. It’s very likely you will heat up as go through the course. If you get the wrong kind of leggings, it could amplify that.
Accessories
As you practice at your local ninja warrior gym, you’ll realize that there are a few accessories that you might want to bring. Believe me. As you swing from obstacle to obstacle, you’ll see how useful these next two items could be.
Chalk
Chalk is very important. It helps you grip the metal on the different obstacles. Because your hands will be sweaty, it will be harder to hang on and overcome the obstacle. On American Ninja Warrior, if you fall, you are disqualified. Your grip is one of the most important parts of the competition then. Chalk help you hold tight.
Tape
If you are coming down to train, and you are at the beginning of your journey, you will likely get a lot of blisters. Taping your hands can help minimize that. You will have blisters, and you will have them until your hands get calluses, but taping can help ease that transition from soft hands to the hands of a ninja warrior.
Conclusion
There you have it. That’s a basic guide on what you should wear to come train at a ninja obstacle course. Again, if you have any questions, please feel free to give us a call. We’d love to talk to you. Otherwise, we look forward to seeing you down at the Ninja Playground.
